Cal Lutheran Ends Exhibition Schedule at Division I Loyola Marymount

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Cal Lutheran faced off with Loyola Marymount University (LMU) at Gersten Pavilion on Sunday afternoon. The Regals fell to the Lions 87-43 in their final exhibition contest before the regular season begins next week.

CLU freshman Cameron Jones paced the offense in the opening period scoring all nine of her points off the bench. She knocked down a pair of three pointers and led the team with four rebounds in only 11 first half minutes.

Following a Rachel Heagy lay-up the Regals trailed LMU by only 12 points with 7:25 remaining until intermission. The Lions then closed out the remainder of the half on a 21-3 scoring run highlighted by eight of their 20 fast break points on the day.

Shana Moore led the second half scoring effort with eight points on 4-of-6 shooting from the floor. She finished with a team-high 10 points in 24 minutes of court time.

Outside of Moore's second half shooting the Lions stout defense held the Regals to just 3-of-24 from the floor. As a team LMU recorded 18 steals and forced 25 CLU turnovers in total.

Alex Cowling led all players with 18 points and completed her double-double with 10 rebounds.

Cal Lutheran will officially get its season underway debuting at home against Hope International on Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 7:30 p.m.
