Center Valley, PA (December 11, 2021) - The 25th ranked DeSales University men's basketball team opened a season 10-0 for the first time in team history after an 82-68 win over Misericordia University in MAC Freedom action on Saturday afternoon in Billera Hall.
The Basics

- The Bulldogs are now 10-0 for the first time in team history, surpassing the previous best start to a year in 2008-09 (9-0).
- DeSales has won five straight in the all-time series with Misericordia to improve to 33-19 over the Cougars.
How it Happened
- DeSales never trailed in this one and took control early using a 13-2 run to extend a 5-4 lead to an 18-6 margin at the 14:47 mark of the opening half.
- MU got within five points (25-20) mid-way thru the first-half but the Bulldogs countered with a 12-0 run to take a 37-20 lead and extended the margin to 21 points (51-30) at the half.
- The lead never fell below double digits in the second-half.
- Misericordia mounted a late run (12-1) to get within 10 points with 2:08 left but a dunk from junior Keba Mitchell and lay-up from sophomore Mason Barnes ended the threat and helped post the final tally.
Top Bulldog Performers
- Senior Matt Kachelries was two rebounds shy of recording the program's second-ever triple double finishing with 11 points, 10 assists, and eight rebounds.
- Sophomore Elijah Eberly had 14 points and two blocks and Mitchell finished with 10 points, nine rebounds, and three blocks.
- Senior Dat Lambert had 11 points, four assists, and three steals in the win.
For the Foes
- Nick Hornung led all scorers with a game-high 27 points and nine rebonds.
- Kevin Lazdowsky added 10 points.
Inside the Box Score
- The Bulldogs shot 43.4 percent from the field and hit 11 3's, 40.7 percent from outside the arc.
- DeSales dominated the glass out-rebounding MU, 44-31.
- DSU had a 33-14 edge in bench scoring.
