Jack Sixsmith had 10 steals and Bryler Paige scored a career-high 30 points to defeat the College of Staten Island, 82-78, on Bearcats Appreciation Night.

The win clinches both the CUNYAC Regular Season Championship and Top Seed in the CUNYAC Tournament that gets underway this weekend.

The Bearcats earn a quarterfinal round bye and will host a CUNYAC semifinal game next Wednesday, February 20, at 7:00 p.m. against an opponent to be determined.

The visiting Dolphins started strong and built up a 13 point lead (27-14) with 8:37 left in the first half, but the Bearcats quickly rallied to tie the contest at halftime (34-34).

The two teams were evenly matched most of the time in the second half, but the hot hand of Paige proved to be the difference. He scored 18 of his 30 points in the second half, including a key three to lead 79-72 with a minute remaining.

The Dolphins did not go away quietly and quickly got as close as 80-78, but three free throws and a key steal by Jack Sixsmith preserved the win in the final seconds.

Prior to the game, the team honored Andre Harris, William Sixsmith, Jack Sixsmith and Bryler Paige for playing in their final home regular season game.
