EWING, N.J. - The Rosemont College men's basketball team came from behind in the first 10 minutes of tonight's game, using a 17-0 run to turn a 13-8 deficit into a 25-13 lead. The Ravens never trailied from the 6:01 point in the first half as Rosemont (9-7) earned a 73-69 win over the host Rutgers-Camden Scarlet Raptors (2-13) at The College of New Jersey. The win was the second on the road for the Ravens this season, both earned in the State of New Jersey.
The Raven's 13-point lead turned out to be their largest and was last held at the 4:50 mark in the first half as Rosemont led 28-15. Rutgers-Camden ended the half on a streak of their own, outscoring the Ravens 9-1 to trail Rosemont by only five points at the half, 29-24.
Despite the Ravens holding the lead for the entire second half, the Scarlet Raptors were never out of the contest as the Ravens could not extend their lead to double-figures. With a 48-39 lead and 11:43 left, the Raven's lead was narrowed to 48-46 as the home side put together a 7-0 run with 10:07 left. The Ravens held, however, re-extending their nine-point lead at 60-51 with 2:19 remaining in the game. A three-point bucket by Scarlet Raptor's Woody Redding again pulled the home side to within two points at 71-69, but Derrick Carter (Jr./Millville, NJ) sank two free throws in the final seconds to secure the win for the Ravens.
Carter poured in 22 points to lead all players. Harrison Carsillo (Sr./Collingswood, NJ) notched his third double-double of the season, scoring 15 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.
The Scarlet Raptors placed four players in double figures: Woody Redding (20), Anthony Solano (14), Josh Stevens (13), Kyle Bowman (11).
The Ravens out-rebounded their opponents by a 47-33 count and had 17 more shots than Rutgers-Camden at the charity stripe. Even so, neither team shined at the line with the Ravens shooting 57% (20-for-35) compared to the Scarlet Raptors (7-for-18, 39%).
The Ravens next face the Philadelphia Biblical University Crimson Eagles on Wednesday, 1/18 in a CSAC game scheduled to tip-off in Langhorne, PA at 7:00pm.
