"Not to overdo it, but you have to admire our guys for grinding out our fifth W in six days, and for doing it against another fresh team led by excellent guard play," Whitman coach Eric Bridgeland said.
Junior wing Ignas Pavilonis "gave us a huge boost in the second half with two key steals and a huge momentum 3-pointer," Bridgeland added.
He also credited senior guard Brandon Shaw and
sophomore backcourt mate Josh Duckworth with
controlling the fourth quarter and making "great decisions that
enabled us to pull away.
"I'm very proud of our guys; specifically their commitment to
playing hard for each other and Whitman. They are very conscious of
who they are representing."
The Whitman contingent returns to campus Sunday and looks forward to some rest, Bridgeland said.
"I'm pretty sure each and every one of our guys feel like they just completed the Ironman triathlon."
Statistics for the game were not immediately available.
