Claremont-Mudd-Scripps tied the program record for the best start to a season, Montclair State won its school-record 15th game in a row, Endicott improved to 14-1, UW-Stevens Point saw its streak snapped, UW-La Crosse picked up its third consecutive loss, Gustavus won at Concordia-Moorhead in overtime and more in Wednesday's Division III men's basketball action.

Christian Nicholson reached double figures in scoring for the eighth time in his freshman season as No. 8 Montclair State hit its free throws in the closing seconds and was able to hold off TCNJ, 76-72. Montclair has won 15 consecutive games, setting a program record, surpassing the mark set in both the 1948-49 and 1969-70 seasons. Their 15-0 start to the campaign is also a new program-best, passing the 1969-70 team that started the season with 14 wins in a row. Kabrien Goss added 10 points for the Red Hawks, who dropped TCNJ to 10-5, 5-3 in New Jersey Athletic Conference play.

No. 11 UW-Stevens Point saw its eight-game winning streak snapped as the Pointers went to UW-Stout and saw the homestanding Blue Devils shoot 11-for-21 from three-point range and 57 percent from the field in rolling to an 83-67 win. The Pointers (13-2, 3-1 WIAC) shot just 6-for-23 from beyond the arc, while AJ Uttech came off the bench to score a game-high 20 points, while Domanyck Schwarzenberger added 18 to help Stout improve to 6-9, 2-2 in conference play.

Brady Karich broke the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps single-game record with 15 assists, and the Stags matched the best start in program history at 15-0 with a 75-66 win at Cal Lutheran on Wednesday afternoon. No. 9-ranked CMS ties its best start with the 2011-12 team, which also began 15-0, and also remains alone in first in the SCIAC at 6-0. The Stags were in a tight contest at the break, leading just 37-36, but were able to get separation in the second half to pull away for their 15th win in a row. The 2011-12 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps team also started out 15-0 on the way to a 25-3 mark and a first-round exit in the NCAA Tournament.

It took an extra five minutes to decide a MIAC battle in Moorhead, Minnesota, as No. 14 Gustavus Adolphus and Concordia-Moorhead had to go to overtime before Gustavus emerged with the 82-77 win. The Gusties (14-1, 6-0) turned the ball over just twice in the entire 45-minute game, which means not only not throwing away passes, but no offensive fouls and no traveling calls as well. Jake Schmitt led Gustavus with 24 points, while Eli Wolff had a steal and made four crucial free throws in overtime to help keep the Cobbers (10-5, 2-4) at bay. They were Wolff's only four points of the game, although he tied for the team high with four assists.

UW-Oshkosh overcame a halftime deficit and pulled away for an 86-76 victory over UW-Platteville in a matchup of nationally ranked programs. No. 20 Oshkosh (12-3, 3-1 WIAC) dealt No. 19 Platteville (11-4, 3-1) its first league loss of the season and moved into a three-way tie atop the conference standings with UW-Stevens Point (13-2, 3-1). The Titans trailed, 32-30, at intermission and 42-38 at the 14:27 mark of the second half before reclaiming the lead for good at 48-46 with 11:59 to play. The Titans, who shot 25 of 32 from the free throw line during the second half, led by as many as 11 points on two occasions over the final six minutes on the way to improving to 7-0 at home this season and snapping a four-game losing streak to the Pioneers. Brandon Beck led the way with 23 points.

In a defensive battle, in which neither team hit a three-point shot the entire first half, UW-Whitewater worked its way out to a 19-point lead early in the second half and held off a late run to win at No. 18 UW-La Crosse, 63-60. Whitewater (11-4, 2-2 WIAC) went nine minutes without a field goal as UWL went on a 24-8 run to cut the lead to three, holding the Warhawks to 0-for-10 shooting from the floor in that span. But UWW was able to hold off La Crosse (11-4, 1-3) and denied the Eagles an open look on their final possession. It's La Crosse's third consecutive loss.

No. 21 Endicott won its eighth consecutive game and downed a local rival in the process as the Gulls went to neighboring Wenham, Massachusetts and rolled past Gordon 86-60. Matt Boen led the Gulls (14-1, 6-0 CNE) with his game-high 17 points (6-for-12 shooting, including 5-for-9 from three-point range), while Elijah Kinney posted 12 points, six rebounds, two blocks, an assist and a steal in his 16 minutes. Preseason All-America selection Marcus Montagnino was held to four points, but had 13 rebounds and nine assists in the win, which saw Endicott put up an extended 41-11 run to blow it open.

No. 22 Hood took a 41-25 lead into halftime against Stevenson before the Mustangs put together an 11-0 run early in the second half. But Hood responded with a 14-0 run of its own, sparked by Garrett Cox, who scored a game-high 21 points, and was able to put the Mustangs away, winning 81-62. Cox shot 8-for-14 from the field and 3-for-7 from three-point range, while Jude Huseby helped spark Hood (12-2, 3-0 MAC Commonwealth) on the glass, pulling down 16 boards. Hood outrebounded Stevenson (9-5, 1-2) by a 53-32 margin.

Randolph-Macon blistered the nets to the tune of 74% shooting in the second half, as the Yellow Jackets rolled to a 103-47 win against Bridgewater. Macon, the No. 5 team in the country, never trailed in improving to 13-1 overall, 5-1 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. Sixteen players played for the Yellow Jackets and 14 of them scored, led by guard Keishawn Pulley Jr., who scored 15 points on 5-for-7 shooting, all of it from beyond the three-point line, while playing just 21 minutes. Randolph-Macon turned the ball over just five times on the night.

Carthage used runs of 9-0, 8-2 and 15-2 to push the lead out to as many as 41 points on the way to the 37-point victory over the Vikings (10-5, 3-3).

Wani Donato and Remijo Wani each reached the 1,000-point mark for St. Joseph's (Maine) as the Monks rolled past New England College 107-67. It marked the first time in the history of the program that two players reached 1,000 in the same game. Donato needed six points and reached the mark on a layup 9:31 into the game. Wani, who began the night 27 points shy, eclipsed the plateau with a deep three-pointer with 5:06 remaining. It was the third consecutive win for the Monks (6-8, 2-0 GNAC), who began the season with high hopes after last year's postseason but have had trouble keeping the lineup healthy. That includes Wani, who missed six weeks of the season in November and December but is averaging a team-high 20.4 points per game.
