No. 3 Illinois Wesleyan shot poorly from the floor, even worse from 3-point range and was outrebounded to boot as Augustana knocked off the Titans on their home floor 53-47 to advance to the CCIW tournament finals on a Friday night without too many other upsets that could affect the men's NCAA Tournament selections.

The 2013 NCAA Tournament bracket will be announced Monday afternoon. Check D3hoops.com for more details later in the weekend. Illinois Wesleyan should be safely in the tournament, but if Augustana beats North Central (Ill.) on Saturday night, someone's bubble would be burst. Augustana is 19-7 overall, but was just 8-6 in the CCIW this season.
The Vikings held Illinois Wesleyan (21-5 overall, 18-5 in-region) to 14-for-56 from the floor (25 percent) and 5-for-25 from beyond the arc (20 percent) in the loss. Augustana (19-for-51, 4-for-13) didn't shoot much better. Ben Ryan led the Vikings with 12 points and 10 rebounds in the win.
North Central won its way into the CCIW title game as Jack Burchett scored a team-high 15 points off the bench for the Cardinals. They survived a 26-point onslaught from Tyler Peters to beat No. 20 Wheaton (Ill.) 59-50.
Carleton rallied from a 12-point second-half deficit to tie the game at 57 apiece, only to watch top-ranked St. Thomas score the final 13 points and pull away for the 70-57 win. The Tommies advance to the MIAC title game and will host Augsburg. Carleton played just six players, three of whom played all 40 minutes including Scott Theisen, who scored a game-high 31 points. But Erik Tengwall scored nine of his 12 points in the final 4:30 to lift the Tommies, powering the game-ending 13-0 run.
Sean Rossi moved atop the all-time leaderboard for assists in Division III basketball history, recording nine and helping Frank Mitchell to 21 points and Ithaca to a 70-63 win against St. John Fisher in the Empire 8 semifinals. Top-seeded Stevens rolled over Utica 102-66 behind 38 from Sheldon Jones.
Evan Pannell scored 21 and Doug Thorpe added 17 as Wooster defeated archrival Wittenberg 78-66 in a rare NCAC semifinal matchup. The No. 10 Scots face No. 24 Ohio Wesleyan, which shot 50 percent from the floor en route to a 77-64 win against Kenyon.
All four top seeds advanced in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference tournament, with top seed Virginia Wesleyan rolling past Eastern Mennonite, second-seeded Hampden-Sydney crushing Roanoke, third-seeded Randolph-Macon surviving Guilford and No. 4 seed Randolph defeating Lynchburg.
Virginia Wesleyan was led by Chris Teaseley's career-high 28 points as the Marlins improved to 20-6. Hampden-Sydney got 12 apiece from Cam Anderson and Khobi Williamson as nobody on the Tigers' roster played more than 21 minutes. Twelve players scored. Marcus Badger hit a jumper with 49 seconds left to give Randolph-Macon the lead and blocked a shot from Guilford's Josh Pittman with five seconds left to preserve the win. Colton Hunt, named the ODAC player of the year earlier in the week, scored a game-high 22 points and added seven rebounds to lead Randolph to victory.
Tahrike Carter scored 12 points, gathered eight rebounds and added four assists to lead top-seeded Rhode Island College to a 61-47 victory over fourth-seeded Southern Maine in the Little East semifinals. The Anchormen will host Keene State, which defeated Eastern Connecticut 79-73 behind 23 from Ryan Martin.
Carroll ended Grinnell's season with a 92-89 win in the Midwest Conference semifinals at St. Norbert. The Pioneers led their fellow Pioneers by as many as 13 in the second half before Grinnell cut it to two points twice in the final minute, but Carroll hit one free throw to go up by three and survived as Jesse Ney missed from beyond the arc in the closing seconds.
Andrew Nottling led Carroll with 22 points off the bench, with a System-opponent-like 10-for-13 mark from the floor. Like most Grinnell opponents, Carroll did not attempt a 3-pointer for the game. Grinnell ends its season at 17-6, while Carroll will play St. Norbert on Saturday night for the Midwest Conference automatic bid. The Green Knights defeated the Red Hawks 75-65, sweeping Ripon in three meetings this season.
Jon Salandra scored 15 and Matt Porter added 14 as Franklin and Marshall edged Muhlenberg 48-46 in the Centennial Conference semifinals. Dickinson beat Johns Hopkins to earn the rematch.
Hilbert fell at home in the semifinals of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference, as Medaille advanced to the conference final for the fourth time in five seasons by a 72-69 score. Penn State-Behrend advanced to play the Mavericks by beating La Roche.
