It didn't count in the NESCAC standings, but when you're playing an archrival, those details are hardly important. On Wednesday night, No. 14 Amherst made a statement by defeating No. 9 Williams 83-67.

Michael Mayer and Williams cut Amherst's lead to one on two separate occasions early in the second half, but the Lord Jeffs pushed the lead back out to double digits. Willy Workman scored 11 of his 24 points in the second half and Aaron Toomey scored 11 of his 20 and added four assists.
Sixth-ranked WPI survived another NEWMAC challenge from its cross-state rival as the Engineers defeated Springfield 69-66. Marco Coppola and Ryan Kolb combined for 43 points and the WPI defense withstood two attempts by Springfield to tie in the final seconds.

No. 16 Illinois Wesleyan remained unbeaten in the CCIW as Andrew Ziemink scored 19 points and Dylan Overstreet added 13 in a 69-61 win against No. 5 North Central (Ill.). The Cardinals, playing with a full lineup for the first time in two weeks because of the flu, were outscored 11-2 over the final four minutes. Aaron Tiknis scored 10 and added 13 rebounds after a three-game layoff.
Top-ranked St. Thomas bounced back from its Monday night loss at Concordia-Moorhead, rolling past St. Mary's (Minn.) 87-46. John Nance scored a team-high 15 points in the win. 10th-ranked Catholic had little trouble with conference rival Goucher in a 72-46 win, handing out 25 assists on 29 made baskets. Tom Snikkers scored 21 and grabbed nine rebounds as No. 17 Calvin defeated Olivet 73-57.
Khalid Muhammad scored 10 points, the last two of them coming on a buzzer beater as New Jersey City defeated Rutgers-Newark 51-50.
Adam Honig shot 7-for-10 from the floor and finished with a game-high 21 points as Dickinson defeated Franklin and Marshall 71-63. Hayk Gyokchyan fouled out with 12 points in 21 minutes for the Diplomats, shooting 4-for-13 from the floor. Andrew Simmons scored a career-high 15 points as Lynchburg rolled past Guilford on the road 86-66. It was the Hornets' first win at Guilford since 2004-05.
Four CCNY starters reached double figures as the Beavers, who trailed by as much as 14 in the second half, stunned John Jay 71-68 in a Wednesday afternoon game. It was just the second conference win on the season for CCNY, dropping John Jay into a tie for first in its division of the CUNYAC standings.
