November is playoff time for Division III football, but the Illinois Wesleyan women and Christopher Newport men hosted tournaments worthy of the postseason.

At Illinois Wesleyan, No. 4 DePauw edged No. 9 Washington U. 60-59. The Bears and Tigers faught back and forth with Washington U. taking the lead on a Melissa Gilkey bucket with 26 seconds left. Gilkey was fouled on the shot but missed the free throw. DePauw grabbed the rebound and found Kate Walker who was fouled with seven seconds left. Walker made both shots and Alex Gasaway stole the ball from the Bears to preserve the victory. Full recap
The Tigers will play No. 8 Illinois Wesleyan tomorrow. The Titans pulled away from No. 17 Coe 81-67 as the Titans outscored the Kohawks 27-7 down the stretch. Katy Seibring and Shelby Jackson each scored 17 for Illinois Wesleyan. Megan Hayes led Coe with 19 points and 11 rebounds.
No. 18 Thomas More bounced back from Friday night's overtime loss to Calvin with a 58-55 victory over Capital. Allison Long scored 26 for the Saints. No. 2 George Fox hit the win column by blasting Cal Lutheran 75-44.
Berry's Chanlir Segarra tallied one of the most impressive stat lines of the young season. The sophomore guard scored 39 points in 44 minutes as Berry outscored LaGrange 103-99 in overtime. Heather Miller scored 30 points for the Panthers. Alexis Popelar poured in 37 points for Hardin-Simmons and the Cowgirls tipped Trinity (Texas) 77-75.
Men's recap
Christopher Newport outlasted Wesley 81-79 in quadruple overtime to remain undefeated. Nik Biberaj gave the Captains a 51-45 lead with 2:27 remaining but the Wolverines clamped down on defense and chipped away on offense. After three Wesley free throws, Jacquard Hagan hit a three-pointer with 15 seconds left to tie the game at 51.
Wesley missed a potential game-winning layup at the buzzer in the first overtime and a three pointer at the buzzer in the second overtime. The Captains seized the lead for good with three layups in the fourth overtime. Christopher Newport improves to 3-0 while Wesley slips to 3-1. Full recap
John Carroll upended No. 12 Birmingham-Southern 87-83 to advance to the title game of Christopher Newport's Point Plaza tournament. Ryan Angers made four three throws in the final 10 seconds to preserve the Blue Streaks' victory.
No. 3 UW-Whitewater shot 58 percent from the field and made a strong first half stand up at Carthage. The Warhawks topped the Red Men 74-69 and head to No. 8 Illinois Wesleyan on Tuesday. The Titans held off Wabash 62-56 behind Kevin Reed's 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Landon Gamble only played 20 minutes for No. 6 North Central (Ill.) but that was enough to lead the Cardinals past Carroll 93-83. Gamble had 25 points and five boards in limited action. No. 1 MIT erased a six-point halftime deficit and took care of Curry 71-63.
Four of Simpson's starters scored double-figures but the Storm's bench added only five points and none in the second half as Washington U. triumphed over Simspon 71-66. Pittsburgh-native Jeff Haus scored 17 points and grabbed 10 boards in a homecoming of sorts as No. 19 St. Mary's (Md.) edged Capital 49-47 at Carnegie Mellon.
Brad and Mitch Ford combined for 44 points and 28 rebounds to push Nazareth past Buffalo State 97-89, despite Jake Simmons and Roderick Epps combining for 55 points for the Bengals. Hamilton topped Union 73-67 in a meeting of former Liberty League rivals.
Concordia-Moorhead and UW-Superior played a game that featured 16 ties and 21 lead chances before the Cobbers emerged with a 95-90 win in double overtime. Ebo Nana-Kweson led the Cobbers with 21, while Superior got 25 from Jarrod Peterson, 22 from Brendan Bauer and 22 more from Bronson Byrne.
