No. 6 Mary Hardin-Baylor gave up the first 11 points of the game, but the Cru stormed back with a huge second-half rally to edge Hardin-Simmons on the road 75-73.
The sixth-ranked Cru trailed by 14 at halftime and by as many as 16 points early in the second half before starting the comeback. Hardin-Simmons was playing without point guard Matt Addison, who averages 28.1 points per game.
Williams won the only other men's game involving a ranked team, defeating Skidmore 76-59.
There was an even bigger rally in men's action on Thursday. Andrew Dickey nailed a three-pointer as time expired as Maine-Farmington rallied from 18 points down to stun Husson 67-64. Medaille shot 70 percent from the floor and improved to 15-2, defeating Penn State-Behrend 89-72. Benedictine came back from a 12-point second-half deficit to beat Aurora 69-63. Wentworth rallied from eight points down in the final three minutes to top Gordon 60-59.
Thursday's women's wrap
No. 23 Williams rolled out to a 36-14 halftime lead and cruised to a 63-47 win against Eastern Connecticut behind 17 points off the bench from Grace Rehnquist.
With her team trailing 59-58 and just over a minute to play, Pelletier drove hard to her left and finished with her off hand while being fouled by Gull sophomore Jennifer White. The ensuing free throw pushed the advantage to 61-59 and the University of New England took first place from Endicott in the Commonwealth Coast Conference with a 63-59 win.
Mississippi College held Texas-Dallas to 19 percent shooting in the second half and ended the Comets' nine-game winning streak with a 44-42 win.
