In their final home game of their careers, seniors Matt Cavalieri and Billy Harkins shined as the Springfield men's basketball team knocked off No. 10 WPI, 72-60.

Cavalieri scored 21 points and added 11 rebounds, while Harkins had 18 points and seven assists in the win.

UW-Stevens Point all but wrapped up the top seed in the WIAC tournament with an 82-54 home win against UW-Platteville, while No. 12 UW-River Falls fell on the road at UW-La Crosse to fall out of the first-place tie. Four starters scored in double figures for the Eagles. The Pointers' win, behind 17 points from Louis Hurd, avenged a loss from earlier in the season. No. 11 St. Thomas did the same, riding a Senior Night wave to an 82-60 home win against Hamline.

No. 18 Wabash kept its flagging at-large bid hopes alive with a 70-59 home win against No. 17 Wittenberg. The Little Giants got 32 points from their bench, including Derek Bailey's career-best 17. No. 13 Marietta saw its eight-game win streak snapped at the hands of Capital, 91-82.

Lee McKinney's long battle with cancer took another turn as his Fontbonne team played at Greenville without him. He was admitted to St. Luke's Hospital, suffering from malnutrition and a collapsed lung, according to his son, Denny. He has coached at Fontbonne since 1988 and has won more than 500 career games as a collegiate coach.

Albion lost a nine-point second half lead, but the Britons didn't wilt in front of more than 3,000 at Hope's DeVos Fieldhouse. Kolin Kazen and J.C. Cruse converted old-fashioned three-point plays to spark an 8-3 run to force overtime, and Kazen finished a fastbreak layup with two seconds left in overtime as Albion scored a 78-76 victory. It's Albion's first win in DeVos Fieldhouse.

Hampden-Sydney (16-8, 8-7 ODAC) won its seventh consecutive game, defeating Guilford 73-61 thanks in large part to a 20-2 run late in the first half. Anna Maria won its ninth game in a row, as Chris Pinsonault scored 30 points in a 72-65 win against Western New England. Anthony Coppola scored a career-high 41 to keep Wheaton (Mass.) in the NEWMAC playoff hunt with an 80-72 win at MIT. The NEWMAC, which has been won by its seventh seed in the recent past, cut its playoff field down to five teams for this season.

Kean led Richard Stockton 28-15 at the half but had to hold the Ospreys off down the stretch to win 55-53. The Cougars clinched the top seed in the NJAC South and a first-round bye. Montclair State locked up the final berth in the conference tournament and cooled off red-hot New Jersey City 62-53.

Carleton avoided the upset at Macalester and remained in a tie for first place in the MIAC with a 72-65 win. The Knights trailed for most of the first 35 minutes before rallying, then putting the game away in the closing minute. Carthage remained in contention for a CCIW tournament bid, winning 79-70 at North Park.
