Rochester clinched the University Athletic Association men's basketball title with a 95-85 win over Case Western Reserve while Emory lost at Carnegie Mellon. The University of Chicago clinched the UAA women's basketball title and automatic bid as well, with a dominating 77-49 win against NYU.

The victory boosts Rochester's record to 12-1 in the UAA and 20-4 overall. It is Rochester's 11th straight victory. Emory, which held a two-point lead over Carnegie Mellon at halftime, lost, 72-70 in OT. The Eagles are 10-3 in the UAA, 19-5 overall.

The UAA is the only Division III conference without a tournament.

This is Rochester's first berth in the NCAA tournament since 2007-08 and its first UAA men's title since the 2004-05 season. It is the 10th time the Yellowjackets have won 20 games in a season. Full story

Freshman Jake Davis scored 17 points to lead Emory, which shot just 4-for-18 from 3-point range while allowing Carnegie Mellon to shoot 10-for-22 from beyond the arc.

In women's action, Joann Torres led the Maroons with a career-high 14 points, while Meghan Herrick added 13 as Chicago improved to 20-3 overall and 13-0 in UAA play. It's Chicago's 17th consecutive victory. Washington U. remained in contention for an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, rolling past Brandeis 79-47.

The Birmingham-Southern men won the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season title with a 67-63 win against No. 23 Centre in Bill Battle Coliseum.

The Panthers move to 21-3 overall and end the conference regular season with a 14-2 record, while the Colonels fall to 18-5, 13-3 in the SCAC. BSC has also now won 30 straight home games.

As we noted on Friday, Birmingham-Southern is in the final year of a four-year provisional term to join Division III as a full member, and as such, is not eligible for the NCAA Tournament or the D3hoops.com Top 25.
