The top ranked women’s teams in the CCIW and WIAC were each upset by teams from the opposite conference on the last busy night of Division III basketball before Thanksgiving.
UW-Whitewater knocked off No. 3 Illinois Wesleyan 74-60 in Bloomington. The Warhawks dominated the Titans from tip to finish, building an 11-point lead in the first seven minutes and never looking back. UW-Whitewater led by as many as 27 in the second half and outrebounded Illinois Wesleyan 48-29. Emily Bestor and Jamie Swanson each scored 11 points off the bench for the Warhawks.
The CCIW returned the favor in Wisconsin where Millikin tipped No. 6 UW-Stevens Point 73-71. Elise Wildman scored in the paint to give UW-Stevens Point a 71-70 lead with under a minute to play. But Julia Robert drilled a three with four seconds left to lift Millikin to victory.
Conference play begins early in the Centennial Conference where Muhlenberg beat No. 13 Gettysburg 63-60. Alita Zabrecky had 17 points and nine rebounds for the Mules. UW-Eau Claire held No. 21 St. Norbert without a field goal for almost 14 minutes and held off the Green Knights 73-56. Scranton rolled over former conference rival King’s 87-49 in the teams’ first meeting since they played for the MAC-Freedom championship in 2007.

No. 8 Williams survived a test from Little Three rival Wesleyan (Conn.) 80-76. Troy Whittington had 22 points, 13 rebounds and six blocks for the Ephs. Sasha Brown had 25 points for the Cardinals on 26 field goal attempts. The other Wesleyan starters had 29 attempts combined.
