Ashlee Courter played in the Sweet 16 twice, Elite Eight once and Final Four once as a player at Marymount.

Ashlee Courter is the new Marymount head women's basketball coach, according to Debbie Warren, the school's new athletic director.

Courter, who will begin at Marymount on June 21, replaces long-time head coach, Bill Finney, who retired as coach at the end of the season with 553 career wins. Courter played for Finney at Marymount from 1999 to 2003 and was a 2003 D3hoops.com second-team All-Region selection.

"Ashlee is a great choice for the women's program," said Warren. "She comes in with excellent coaching credentials and knows a lot of the rich history of women's basketball at Marymount."

Courter comes to Marymount following four years as a head coach at Franklin and Marshall, where her team won the 2008 Centennial Conference regular season championship. She compiled a 49-53 overall record.

In addition to her basketball coaching duties, she served as facilitator for F&M seminars on leadership and preventing sexual assault. She was also the assistant softball coach and assistant golf coach. Prior to working at F&M, she was the assistant basketball coach and assistant softball coach at Gettysburg for two years.

Courter was a standout player at Marymount and on teams that made four straight NCAA postseason appearances, including the Final Four in 2002, the Elite 8 in 2003, and two other Sweet 16s.  She was a four-year starter and two-year captain, two-time All Capital Athletic Conference player, a CAC Scholar Athlete, and the conference's Unsung Hero in 2002.
She graduated from Marymount with a B.A. in psychology, with a minor in elementary education, and also has a master's in special education from McDaniel.
