Ready for a homestand

Both No. 1 Amherst and No. 2 Kean wrapped up the right to embark on long homestands on Saturday.

The top-ranked Lord Jeffs improved to 24-0 with a 79-46 win against Middlebury. They're the first NESCAC team to be unbeaten this late in the season since Bowdoin reached the national title game in 2004. Amherst and Kean each will host throughout their conference tournaments, should they advance, and are in position to host in the NCAA Tournament all the way through to the Final Four.

&&f-boxr&&Gettysburg blasted No. 18 Muhlenberg 82-60 to take control of the Centennial Conference race. No. 14 Scranton secured the second seed behind Moravian in the Landmark Conference tournament with a nail-biting 77-72 home victory in overtime against Juniata. Scranton reached the 20-win mark for the 19th consecutive season. No. 5 George Fox wrapped up the top seed in the Northwest Conference with an 86-54 win against Linfield.

UW-Whitewater held on to a share of first place in the WIAC with a 62-54 win over UW-Eau Claire at Whitewater. Haverford earned its first-ever win against Johns Hopkins with a 58-54 Centennial Conference win, having lost the first 21 meetings. Junior Lori Lidlow scored a game-high 27 points, including 12 over the final seven minutes of the game, leading DeSales past King�s 75-63 for the Bulldogs' eighth consecutive win, clinching a MAC Freedom playoff berth. Sophomore Micki Volpini recorded career highs of 29 points and seven steals as Cortland State extended its winning streak to 14 games with an 89-49 win over Plattsburgh State.
