Lehman forward Sally Nnamani received her CUNYAC player of the year trophy on Saturday afternoon, then promptly went out and put herself in the record books and her Lightning in the CUNYAC semifinals.
Nnamani scored 23 points, including the 2,000th of her career, and added nine rebounds, six steals, and three blocks in Lehman's 48-37 win against Hunter.
"This was a big win for us," Nnamani said. "It was a hard win to get but we were able to stick together and pull it out. Were looking forward to a hard-fought game with Staten Island on Tuesday. It should be fun."
Carleton's Zach Johnson also reached the 2,000-point milestone on Saturday, as he scored 23 points in the Knights' 64-51 loss at Bethel. He shot 10-for-19 from the floor and 3-for-4 from the foul line after entering the day with 1,987 career points. They were among 11 players reported as having reached milestone numbers on Saturday, which for some was the final day of their collegiate careers.
