Panthers in Midd stride

Middlebury extended its winning streak to 15 consecutive games as the Panthers got 25 points from Ben Rudin and only turned the ball over 11 times in a 62-50 home win against Bowdoin. Middlebury, ranked No. 16, hasn't lost since Nov. 25 and is 6-0 in the NESCAC with three league games left. The 19th win overall ties the school record for a season. Friday night's men's scores.

No. 11 St. Norbert lost for the second consecutive game, as the Green Knights scored just 13 points in the second half and fell 60-51 at Monmouth. The Scots went on a 10-0 walk that encompassed the first eight minutes of the second half.

No. 6 George Fox remained undefeated (scroll down for more in Around the Nation) with a 78-56 win against Lewis and Clark. Third-ranked Rochester ended the game on a 10-2 run in pulling away from Emory 80-72. Emory had led by as many as nine early in the second half. Chicago returned the favor to No. 24 Brandeis, beating the Judges 63-50 to split the season series.

Baruch hit seven of its last nine shots from the field to beat Staten Island 88-79 in a meeting of CUNYAC unbeatens. Dani Dudek was two assists shy of another triple-double as Stevens improved to 17-3 in beating Alfred 59-52. Roanoke beat Randolph-Macon for the second time in 16 meetings, edging the Yellow Jackets 62-60 on the road.

In other men's action, No. 2 Wash U got 13 points and 11 assists from Sean Wallis, while Tyler Nading and Aaron Thompson went a combined 15-for-16 from the floor in a 73-55 home win against NYU. No. 9 Ithaca had little trouble with Hartwick in a 78-59 victory.

John Grotberg broke into the top five in Division III scoring history, with 43 points in a 120-100 win against Ripon. It elevated Grotberg to 2,664 career points, 234 points shy of the all-time Division III scoring record with four regular-season games and a likely Midwest Conference tournament game yet to come. Lawrence moved within a game of first place in the MWC with an 86-76 win at Illinois College. The Vikings are tied with Grinnell and Carroll for second place in a league where four teams make the conference tournament. Williams beat Colby and No. 20 Amherst defeated Bates to remain one game behind Middlebury in the NESCAC standings.
