Jimmy Bartolotta scored 39 points on 14-for-19 shooting to lead MIT past Wheaton (Mass.) 85-60, and in the process, surpassed the 2,000-point mark for his career.
He's the third Division III player known to have reached the milestone this season. After scoring 333 points as a freshman, he added 572 as a sophomore and 574 as a junior. This season, he's averaging 27.9 points while helping MIT to a 14-5 overall record, 6-1 in the NEWMAC.
Bartolotta joins Wesley guard Rashawn Johnson and Wheaton (Ill.) guard Kent Raymond as this year's members of the 2,000-point club.
