Vassar's winningest coach steps down

Mike Dutton, who turned a perennial loser into a consistent winner at Vassar, stepped down to become athletic director and head boys' basketball coach at North Yarmouth Academy in Maine. The Brewers won 18 games each of the past two seasons and were invited to the ECAC tournament both times, including winning the postseason event in 2007.

&&b-boxr&&The coach was at the helm for five of the seven winning seasons in Vassar men's basketball history in compiling a 170-187 career record in 14 years. The Brewers have a current streak of four consecutive seasons finishing .500 or better, the first such span in program history.

Del Harris, who was an assistant men's basketball coach at Division I Morgan State two seasons ago, was named interim head coach at Vassar.
