Jon Onyiriuka hit an alley oop at the buzzer in regulation (audio: J.C. DeLass on the call for WYSL) and No. 1 Rochester survived to head to overtime at Emory, but the homestanding Eagles got 22 from Spiros Ferderigos (audio) and 20 from Anthony Fernandez to hand the top-ranked Yellowjackets their first loss of the season, 81-76. No. 2 Brandeis met the same fate, as the Judges' inbound pass was knocked away with two seconds left and Chicago survived in Boston, 79-77.
After Onyiriuka's layup, Emory won the opening tip in overtime and Julien Williams, who finished with a double-double, hit a layup and drew a foul. The Eagles scored the first four points of the extra period. "That stopped their momentum and let us catch our breath," Emory coach Jason Zimmerman told D3hoops.com. "It let us realize that we controlled the second half, so let's control the overtime.
"Where the program is right now, you have to let them enjoy this. Every game from here on out is brutal, they know that. But how many chances do you get to beat the No. 1 team in the country?"
Chicago got 27 points from Matt Corning in the victory. Joe Coppens led Brandeis with 27 points, including 12 in a row as Brandeis rallied to take a 57-51 lead. Friday night's men's and women's scores.

The No. 14 Colonels dominated the extra session, beating No. 18 Millsaps 90-80. Britt finished with 31 points, overshadowing the 34 points by Millsaps' Edrick Montgomery.
Lewis and Clark led No. 11 Puget Sound by 26 points with 14 minutes left in the game, but the Loggers rallied, including finishing regulation on a 21-8 run to force overtime. Puget Sound never trailed in the extra period in winning 92-87. Lewis and Clark turned the ball over 11 times during Puget Sound's rally.
Middlebury got on the radar at 13-2 with a win at Bowdoin, which had beaten Williams the night before. But the Panthers couldn't keep it going at home against No. 3 Amherst, as the Lord Jeffs got 18 from Brandon Jones, 17 from Andrew Olson and 17 from Fletcher Walters in an 83-66 win.
The Wash U women snapped the No. 8-ranked Violets' 27-game home winning streak behind 19 points from Jill Brandt. Elsewhere in the UAA, the No. 12 Rochester women rallied from a 16-point deficit with nine minutes left to edge Emory 57-54, while Troy Ruths scored 17 points to lead the No. 4 Washington U. men past NYU 57-50. Wash U took over sole possession of first in the UAA with the Rochester and Brandeis losses.
Oglethorpe handed Trinity (Texas) its first loss in SCAC women's action, beating the Tigers 84-73. Two long winning streaks in Upstate New York went down. RPI beat the St. Lawrence women 53-44, ending their 11 game win streak and Clarkson stopped the Vassar men's 10 game win streak, 65-56.
