George Fox silences Puget Sound

No. 18 George Fox won its fifth in a row and improved to 2-0 in the Northwest Conference by defeating No. 23 Puget Sound 45-39. The loss was Puget Sound's first against a Division III team on the season, after two losses to Division II schools who were a combined 16-2 entering the week.

No. 1 Hope had little trouble with Tri-State, which turned the ball over 36 times as Hope won 81-58. No. 2 UW-Whitewater recorded its school-record 13th consecutive win. Saturday's women's scores.

On the men's side, Pacific Lutheran upset No. 16 Lewis and Clark late Saturday night. No. 13 Stevens rebounded after Friday night's loss by outlasting Nazareth 100-97 in double overtime. The Ducks trailed by as many as 12 with eight minutes left but Anthony Passalacqua hit five of six from the line in the final 25 seconds of the second overtime to finish with 25 points in the win. No. 18 UW-Oshkosh went to No. 3 UW-Stevens Point and came away with a 73-62 win, the Pointers' second consecutive defeat. D.J. Marsh led the Titans with 23. Saturday's men's scores.

&&b-boxl&&Chad McGowan scored 21 points along with 13 rebounds and five assists to lead York (Pa.) to an 80-74 win, handing Elizabethtown its first loss. Bridgewater (Va.) survived a buzzer-beater attempt by Shenandoah to win 59-58 at home. Shenandoah fell to 10-3. DeSales unloaded a 13-0 run on John Carroll to put the Blue Streaks away, 97-80. Millsaps improved to 10-1, defeating Trinity (Texas) 73-67 despite getting outrebounded 47-23.

In other women's action, No. 9 Simpson broke open a 2-2 tie with a 30-0 run and sprinted past Coe 85-60. Hillary Klimowicz went 9-for-9 from the floor in recording 18 points, 12 rebounds and six blocks in New Jersey's 54-40 win at Gwynedd-Mercy. Emi Guimond scored 22 of her career-high 24 points in the second half and overtime to rally Albion past Olivet 75-66.
