Six years ago, an SID asked why there were All-Region teams for men's basketball, but not for women's. In fact, while the men's coaches association selects three teams for each region and 24 All-Americans, the women's selects just 10 All-Americans and leaves 30 as candidates.

When John Arenberg asked us to become involved, we said yes. And though we originally played just a publicity and naming rights role, when Arenberg left Emory University and the business, we took over the mechanics as well, automating the nomination and balloting process.

And now we are 6. Presenting the 2006-07 D3hoops.com All-Region team, nominated by SIDs and voted on by SIDs. Schools nominated 638 players.

We also name a Player of the Year and Coach of the Year for each region.
