No more unbeatens

Patrick Martin hit a 3-pointer with four seconds left and Trinity (Conn.) held on as Andrew Olson's buzzer-beater attempt missed to lift the Bantams to a 62-59 win against No. 1 Amherst.

Senior Day at Trinity was a memorable one, as the last unbeaten Division III team fell. "The play was actually designed for Kino Clarke to get the ball but he couldn't get open so I kind of just took it myself," Martin said after the game. "I got a good look and it went down." Capital remained atop the Ohio Athletic Conference, dealing No. 19 Ohio Northern a 74-70 loss. Capital remained tied with John Carroll, which beat Marietta 85-58.

No. 2 UW-Stevens Point took a 30-12 lead on UW-Stout but had to hold on down the stretch in a 73-72 win. Pete Rortvedt scored 11 of his game-high 27 points in the last four minutes to bounce back from a 58-56 deficit. No. 18 Puget Sound couldn't keep pace two nights in a row, as the Loggers lost at home to Whitman 106-99. Whitman, which is just 8-15, shot 74% from the floor in the second half of the victory.

Eastern Nazarene ended its stint as the only winless men's team in Division III, snapping a 22-game losing streak by beating Roger Williams 71-63. And Becker won just its third game, but its second in more than a week, beating Mitchell 102-98 in quadruple overtime. Six players for Becker played all but seven minutes of the 60-minute game, with Shawn Fuller scoring 53 points and Emmanuel Masumbuko scoring 27 and pulling down 23 rebounds.

North Park cut a 10-point deficit to one with 55 seconds left but Brent Ruch hit all six of his free throws down the stretch to push No. 12 Elmhurst to an 83-80 win. Kent Raymond scored 44 points to carry No. 25 Wheaton past Illinois Wesleyan 93-84. Dan Walton hit a short jumper with two seconds left as North Central knocked off No. 15 Carthage 62-60. No. 17 Johns Hopkins beat Centennial co-leader Ursinus to take sole possession of first in the league. And there's still six teams within two games of first in the HCAC, as Transylvania beat Bluffton to bring them back to the pack at 9-5.
