Funk picks up No. 500

With the Johns Hopkins women's basketball team's 60-49 win over Ursinus on Saturday afternoon, head coach Nancy Funk recorded the 500th coaching victory of her career. Funk becomes the eighth coach in the history of Division III basketball to reach the milestone and the fourth to do so this season, following Capital's Dixie Jeffers, North Park's Jack Surridge and Southern Maine's Gary Fifield.

Funk has gone 374-164 with Johns Hopkins. She won her first 126 games in nine seasons as head coach at Messiah.

Trailing 41-39, Hopkins responded with a 12-3 run to give the Blue Jays (13-8, 11-5 Centennial) a 51-44 lead with 1:24 remaining. Senior Haley Wojdowski had five points during that stretch to lead the Blue Jays. After a jumper by Dana Alf made it a five-point game with 1:09 to play, Hopkins responded by going nine of ten from the line in the final minute to secure the victory.
