Daniels blanked but HPU victorious

All-American Meia Daniels took just five shots in 30 minutes and did not score, but No. 6 Howard Payne rolled past No. 12 McMurry 72-55. McMurry All-American guard Symbri Tuttle was credited with just one assist and turned the ball over six times in the defeat.

Stacey Blalock led the Lady Jackets (20-1, 16-1 American Southwest Conference) with 16 points, as Howard Payne took sole possession of first place in the West Division in front of an announced crowd of 2,890.

Top-ranked Messiah ended Albright's nine-game winning streak with a 75-65 win, while No. 17 Mary Washington got back at York (Pa.) for a loss from earlier this season by beating the Spartans 74-62.

The Ohio Athletic Conference got a little tighter, as No. 22 Baldwin-Wallace got 12 from freshman Ariel Brough and another dozen from sophomore Jessica Butzer in a home 69-62 win against No. 15 Wilmington. Capital won at Muskingum to tie Wilmington for the conference lead, with B-W one game behind. Richard Stockton handed 24th-ranked William Paterson its second consecutive loss, 62-57. Farmingdale State defeated Centenary 103-96 in the highest-scoring women's game of the season to date. Thomas More improved to 17-3, beating Presidents' Athletic Conference co-leader Westminster (Pa.) to solidify its Pool B candidacy. Tufts beat Williams 58-53 at home to improve to 7-0 in the NESCAC, 15-6 overall. The Jumbos play at Bowdoin next Friday night.
