Chicago's Sunday less than super

The University of Chicago women, who had peaked at No. 4 in the D3hoops.com Top 25, continued to slide Sunday as they fell at NYU 76-75. It's the Maroons' fourth consecutive loss after a 16-0 start.

Chicago opened up a 37-29 lead just into the second half, but NYU scored the next eight points to tie the game with 14:38 to go. Stephanie Ryba's layup a few minutes later gave the Violets (18-2) a 48-43 lead and NYU did not trail the rest of the way. Noji Mofidi hit a 3-pointer for Chicago to tie the game with 10 seconds left, but Adrienne Rochetti hit one of her two free throws in the closing seconds for the win.

Wash U's women shook off their Friday night loss and finished the game on a 14-3 run to win at Brandeis, 51-45. Anna Findley scored 26 points to lead Oglethorpe past Hendrix 87-69. Sunday's women's scores.

In men's action, Joe Coppens converted a three-point play with 1:15 left in the third overtime and Brandeis handed No. 7 Washington U. its second consecutive loss, 81-75. The Bears (16-3) had rallied to tie in regulation and each of the previous overtimes, but could not do so in the third. Jason Boone scored 22 and Michael DeCorso added 20 for No. 25 NYU, which held off a rally to beat No. 19 Chicago 79-76. Sunday's men's scores.
