Stormy Petrels rain on DePauw's win streak

The Oglethorpe women did on Sunday what no one else in the SCAC was able to do all of last year -- beat DePauw. Biz Richmann's put-back with 0.9 seconds gave the Stormy Petrels a 63-61 win over No. 5 DePauw, ending the Tigers' 11-game win streak. The upset helped Hendrix take sole possession of first place in the SCAC with a 65-62 win over Southwestern.

No. 3 Rochester finished a strong weekend at home by topping No. 21 NYU 82-69 in a battle of unbeaten UAA teams. The Yellowjackets connected on 10 three-pointers in the first half to build a 44-28 lead. More women's scores here.

In men's action No. 8 Virginia Wesleyan showed they are still tops in the ODAC beating Guilford 75-55. Brandon Adair scored 20 points for the Marlins and held Ben Strong to 18 points a day after he scored 40 against Randolph-Macon.

Elsewhere, Brockport State squashed St. Lawrence 102-72 to shrink the number of undefeated men's teams to three "“- No. 3 Amherst, No. 6 Whitworth and No. 15 Bates. Amherst and Bates meet in the opening weekend of NESCAC play next Saturday.

Michael DeCorso hit a three-pointer with 1.2 seconds left to force overtime where No. 20 NYU beat Rochester 70-61. Jason Boone tallied 26 points and 9 rebounds for the victorious Violets. More men's scores here.
