UW-Stevens Point returned to the top spot in the D3hoops.com men's basketball Top 25 this week for the first time since they hoisted Walnut and Bronze in Salem.

The Pointers climbed from No. 5 to No. 1 after top-ranked Wooster fell at home to Ohio Northern. UW-Stevens Point beat No. 9 Augustana this past week and lost, though it was by nine points at Division II Northern Michigan. The Pointers have nine first-place votes.

It's the 14th time UW-Stevens Point has held the top spot in the men's basketball poll, though the nine No. 1 votes are the fewest they've received in taking the overall No. 1 position.

Ohio Northern climbed to the No. 2 spot after wins against then-No. 6 Wittenberg and at Wooster.

The Polar Bears also beat UW-La Crosse, which snuck into the poll at No. 25. Ohio Northern received seven first-place votes.

Amherst, which comes in at No. 3, received the remaining No. 1 votes. Wooster fell to No. 4. St. Thomas, which lost to UW-La Crosse, fell from No. 4 to No. 5. The full Top 25.

In the women's poll, the top eight remained the same. No. 1 Bowdoin faces unbeaten Norwich in the championship game of Springfield's tournament on Wednesday night.
