PITTSBURGH -- The Washington University Bears won for the 61st consecutive time, defeating Carnegie Mellon 61-38. As heard live on D3hoopsNet, the No. 1 Bears improved to 23-0 with a 15-4 run that straddled halftime after the Lady Tartans had but the lead to 20-19. It was business as usual for the Bears, who did relatively little celebrating in breaking the record held by Capital University. It is also the longest winning streak in Division III basketball, bettering the men's record of 60 held by Potsdam State.

Team of the Year center Alia Fischer led all scorers with 22 points and 11 rebounds while shooting 9-for-12 from the floor to key the win. "I think we were excited," the senior said. "I think you kind of had to be, with the crowd we had today. You knew it was kind of a big game."

The closing seconds of the game, as called by Ray Martel.
